2015: No vacancy in Borno govt house – Yusuf Adamu

POLITICAL Adviser to Governor Kashim  Shettima of Borno State, Alhaji Yusuf Adamu has said that the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) would retain the state’s governorship seat in 2015 because the party was fulfilling its campaign promises by delivering dividends of democracy to the electorate.

Speaking with reporters in Maiduguri, the Borno State Capital, Yusuf Adamu, a former ANPP state secretary in Borno State and caretaker chairman of Biu Local Council, said that the party under the leadership of Governor Shettima had done well which attracted a commendation from Vice President Namadi Sambo during his one-day official visit to the state last week.

The political adviser said that if somebody like VP could commend a governor from an opposition party, it was a clear indication that Nigerian democracy was maturing.

He called on other political leaders in the country to emulate Vice President Sambo by calling a spade “a spade”.

He said that despite the security challenges that had bedeviled the state, Governor Shettima had done a lot in the areas of road construction, medicare provision through construction, rehabilitation and equipping of General Hospitals across the state and job creation.

The former ANPP scribe said Governor Shettima was working hard to transform the state and uplift the living standard of the people in the grassroots.

On Governor Kashim Shettima‘s transformation agenda, Alhaji Adamu said that the government was partnering with the Lake Chad Basin Development Authority to revive the lost glory of the South Chad Irrigation Scheme which used to produce wheat on a large scale to meet the needs of  industries across the nation.

He stated that in addition to the numerous jobs created by the Lake Irrigation scheme, the governor who is an agricultural economist and farmer has sent 300 youths to Thailand, 400 to Egypt, 200 to Songhai Farms  in Benin Republic and 100 to Sabore Farms in Adamawa for training in various agricultural fields so that they would in turn train others.

According him, the government had also invested heavily in education transformation through construction, rehabilitation and equipping of all secondary schools across the state, to restore the lost glory of education in Borno.

He said the governor personally visited the schools to monitor students’ feeding system in the state and increased the feeding allocation of secondary schools from N20 million to N100 million monthly.
