LAGOS—Two men have been arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrate Court in Lagos for allegedly stealing a Volvo head truck worth N10.5 million, belonging to one Mr Bishi Iyanu.
The defendants include Ugwumba Onyedikachin, an Engineer, 52, of No. 345, Old Ojo Road, Alakija, Lagos; and Odor Ubaka, a clerk, 59, of No. 5, Godwin George St., Jakande, Ajamgbadi in Lagos.
Onyedikachin and Ubaka are standing trial on a two-count charge of conspiracy and theft, but when their plea was taken they both pleaded not guilty.
According to the prosecutor, Cpl. Raphael Donny, “the duo conspired to steal a Volvo head truck with chasis No. 4VG7DARF8XN774890 and committed the offence on Sept. 27, 2011 at Tin Can Port premises in Lagos.
“The defendants were given the truck to sell by the complainant, which after sale of truck did not give Iyanu the money. The complainant, who could not exercise more patience reported the case to the police.”
Donny informed the court that the offence was contrary to sections 285 and 409 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State, 2011.
However, the Magistrate, Mrs Mulikat Ali-Balogun, granted the accused persons bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties each in like sum.
Magistrate Ali-Balogun adjourned the case to March 19 for mention.
