Yola – THERE was tragedy at the Mayo Belwa Local Government Area of Adamawa State Wednesday night when a police Inspector posted to the private residence of Governor Murtala Nyako ran amock, killed his wife and that of his land lord.
An eye witness told Vanguard in Yola that the Inspector (names withheld), who refused to surrender his arms and ammunition to the divisional police armourer after closing from duty, went home with it to allegedly kill the victims.
It was gathered that the officer on reaching home first shot his wife dead before turning to his landlord’s wife and equally killed her.
However, his land lord was said to have escaped, when he discovered that his wife and that of the policeman had been shot dead. The landlord was said to have reported the incident at the Divisional Police Station in the area.
Adamawa State Police command confirmed the incident .
The Police Public Relation’s Officer, PPRO , Ibrahim Mohammed, who spoke to newsmen said that the suspect had since been arrested and is currently undergoing interrogation at the state CID.
