I am grateful to God, President Jonathan and Nigerians – Gov Wada
By Abayomi Adesida, Abuja
Three days after he was discharged from the Cedar-crest Orthopedic Hospital, Abuja where he was hospitalised following an auto crash, Kogi State Governor, Captain Idris Wada, rtd, has expressed gratitude to God for the close shave he had with death as well as his speedy recovery.
Wada however, commiserated with the people of his state over another fatal accident that took the life of a security aide to the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Lawal Jimoh.
The governor who returned to the hospital in Garki 2, Abuja for his first post-surgery medical examination also used the opportunity to express his appreciation to President Goodluck Jonathan for his visit and constant contact with him while still on admission in the hospital.
Furthermore, Wada expressed gratitude to Nigerians for their prayers for his survival and quick recovery.
Answering reporters questions shortly before his departure after keeping the medical appointment, Captain Wada beaming with smiles said,”I thank God almighty and all Nigerians, especially Mr. President and all the people who have been praying for me.’’
He however, described as “unfortunate,’’ the auto crash which claimed the life of a security detail to the Speaker Kogi State House of Assembly, saying that he received the sad news with shock.
The Governor, clad in a white caftan with a multi-coloured cap to match, was driven into the premises of the hospital in a metallic grey Toyota caravan few minutes after 10 am in a convoy of three vehicles.
In the hospital, he had collected his two crutches from his security aide and walked to the reception of the hospital where he was warmly greeted by some patients who smiled back as he waived at them.
Security aides and protocol officials who accompanied him on the visit later withdrew to join journalists at the reception of the hospital for him to undergo the medical checks that lasted for about 43 minutes. Wada drove off just at about 11 am.
Meanwhile, the Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon in the hospital, Dr. Felix Ogedegbe has revealed that Governor Wada’s speedy recovery was not miraculous as same medical treatment had worked for other patients brought to the hospital for similar attention.
