KANO – Two policemen were killed Monday, by unknown gunmen at a checkpoint in Kano.
Eyewitness says the incident occured around 4pm when the gunmen in tricycles attacked the policemen at a checkpoint located at Ringroad by Tishama junction in Kano.
Accordingt to the eyewitness, ” I saw the lifeless bodies of two policemen after the gun duel that lasted 10 minutes.”
Confirming the incident, Kano State Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris revealed that the attackers came on tricycles from different directions and opened fire on his personnel on duty.
Alhaji Ibrahim Idris said that the policemen died in the ensuing firefight, adding that most of the gunmen escaped with bullet wound.
