BENIN — AHEAD the April 20, local government area elections in Edo State, the leadership of Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, in the state has concluded plans to hold talks with the leadership of Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, in the state with a view to presenting consensus candidates in the 18 councils of the state.

Erhahon, said: “The  state leadership of CPC intends to discuss with ACN leadership ahead of the council elections because as it is now, we are fusing within the next three months. It means that by April 20, we would have become one party. In that case, there will be no need fielding different candidates for the elections.

“The reason for the meeting is for the purpose of harmonizing our aspiration and interest, so that we can strategise in the interest of our people. We are happy that the the state governor had set up machinery to conduct a free and fair election in the 18 councils and we intend to assist him because we want his efforts at the state level to be replicated at the grassroots.”
