Yenagoa—An aggrieved aspirant for the ticket of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the forth coming local government election in Bayelsa State, Mr. Monday Eribo, weekend, petitioned the National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, over the alleged faulty clearance and emergence of the party flag bearer in the home council of President Goodluck Jonathan, Ogbia Local Government Area of the state.
Eribo said though the party was the most popular and strongest in the state, the party may lose the council elections to the opposition party due to the alleged discrepancies in the certificates of its chairmanship candidate for the March council polls, Mr. Abah Richard, at the court.
Eribo, who came second at the December 16, 2012 primaries of the party, alleged that the screening committee turned a blind eye to the noticeable anomalies in the documents submitted by his rival which ought to have led to his disqualification.
In the petition copied to the state chairman of the party, Mr. Samuel Inokoba and Governor Seriake Dickson, Eribo, through his counsel, insisted that the party’s chairmanship candidate for Ogbia council was not qualified to contest the poll, claiming that he had in the past defected from PDP to contest elections on the platform of All Peoples Party, APP and had not shown proof of his return to PDP.
