House of Representatives, yesterday, suspended debate on President Goodluck Jonathan’s request for the approval of a supplementary budget of N161 billion for 2012.

The debate, suspended by Speaker of the House, Aminu Tambuwal, when he observed that chairmen of relevant committees, who should brief the lawmakers on the implementation of the 2012 budget, were absent at yesterday’s plenary session, continues today.

Tambuwal said input from the House Committees on Petroleum Resources (Upstream and Downstream) and Finance and Appropriation were crucial.

If approved, the supplementary budget will bring the subsidy budget for 2012 to N1,041, 881,608,594 trillion.
