Members of Igbo World Assembly (IWA) have condemned in strong terms the law suit instituted by two ex-officials of Ohanaeze Ndigbo against Ohanaeze Ndigbo, saying their action was capable of working against the actualisation of the bigger and national Igbo agenda.
While throwing their weight behind the structure of current Ohanaeze leadership, the IWA Chairman, Dr. Nwachukwu Anakwenze and its Secretary, Chief Oliver Nwankwo in a statement said that any form of dissgreement should have been through the conflict resolution structure within the constitution of Ohanaeze
“We advice Prince Chukwuemeka Ifeanacho Onyesoh and Chief Oyibo Chukwu to withdraw this law suit immediately for their action will lead to the disintegration and lack of cohesion of the Igbo speaking communities that make up Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
“We condemns Prince Chukwuemeka Ifeanacho Onyesoh and his cohorts’ vendetta on the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo – reference to your previous criticisms to the current Ohanaeze leadership right from the onset.
“We want to know the justification for the law suit now that the election committee has been formed and the current Ohanaeze leadership has only one month to hand over power to the next rightful legitimate state (Ebonyi) due to hold the Presidency of Ohanaeze for the next term of four (4) years?” Anakwenze said.
The law suit, according to him was designed to truncate the planned election, and destroy the unity that Ndigbo was striving hard to build.
According to him, Ohanaeze Ndigbo should ensure a smooth transfer of leadership from the incumbent Delta (Anioma) State to Ebonyi State in accordance with the rotational pattern prescribed in the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Constitution, adding that the usual zero politics policy in its leadership shoud be maintained.
Any attempt to elect politicians into the next Ohanaeze leadership, he warned will be strongly resisted.
“Ohanaeze Ndigbo represents the voice and identity of Ndigbo and that any person or persons that unfairly attacks or demeans Ohanaeze Ndigbo or its Leadership in any form or shape is attacking and demeaning the entire Igbo Nation.
“IWA urges all to desist from selfish interests; to stop PHDS (Pull His/hers Down syndrome) and take actions that will be promote the interest and well-being of all Ndigbo.
“IWA urges all aggrieved persons to document their issues, corrections and improvements and hand it to the newly elected Ohanaeze leadership after the election. All the accusations/complaints will be thoroughly investigated by the incoming administration” IWA Chairman added.
The Igbo World Assembly (IWA), is the only bona fide, inter-continental, Igbo Advocacy group of its kind founded on May 19, 2008, and represents a committed attempt to truly perfect a Global Igbo Union.
IWA is founded on the twin principles of synergy and collaboration and we are committed to working with, collaborating with, partnering with all genuine Igbo political, economic and social expression vehicles.
By presenting a platform to leverage Igbo Diaspora as a strategic partner on Igbo issues, IWA aims to advance the Igbo agenda as never before done in the post-war history.
