Orji to demolish 1,800 structures in Aba

ABUJA- THE Abia State governor, Theodore Orji yesterday disclosed that plans have been concluded to demolish 1,800 structures in Aba, the commercial nerves of the state.

According to him, the move is designed to give Aba the new face that the Commercial centre of Abia State ought to wear, just as he said that sixteen roads have been marked for reconstruction in Aba.

Speaking with Journalists in Abuja yesterday the governor’s Chief Press Secretary Ugochukwu Emezue who explained that governor was on top of governance and development in the state in this 2nd term, however argued that allegation that the governor was not performing came as a result of the fact that he never met anything on ground to build on, adding that the governor spent his first term in litigation over his election as the substantive governor.

Emezue who disclosed that one of the things hindering performance in Abia State was the N30 billion loan that the governor at the moment was servicing, said the debt was inherited from the previous administration of Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu.

According to him, it has become imperative to give the explanations because of high propaganda of  none performance against the governor, adding, “There have been incessant attacks that the Abia State governor is not working. I want to tell you that is not true”

He however accepted the fact that nothing much was done in the first tenure of his principal, but explained that it was expected as the governor spent all his first tenure in answering litigation and addressing insecurity challenges in the state, adding that no governor or political office holder could achieve anything meaningful in such circumstance of distraction.
