TO prepare Nigerian students to adapt to 21st century learning method, one of the Nigeria’s leading technology solutions company, Omatek is expanding the opportunity cost of acquiring computers with its new e-learning scheme to provide a platform to ensure that ICT tools are deployed in class rooms under a carefully structured learning environment equipped with internet connectivity to create a virtual connection between students and teachers.
With the scheme, Omatek would give adequate support to computer for students PC ownership initiative recently introduced by the federal government through the ministry of communication technology.
“In order for the scheme to cater for all categories of individuals and sectoral groupings, the scheme was designed to be effective irrespective of social status. The Omatek e-Xpress initiative comes with a huge funding support from our partnering banks and consists of e- Consumer, e – mobile, e- tertiary, and e- youth,” Mrs. Florence Seriki, chief executive officer of Omatek Ventures Plc., said.
To harness requirements within the education space, she informed that the scheme was further restructured to capture the education sector holistically with the other sectors falling within the e-mobile and e-consumer space.
The e-youth and e-tertiary, according to her were collapsed under the e-learning scheme, comprising of the e-school, e-teacher, e-home, e-lab, e-lecturer and e-student.
“The new e-Xpress scheme will be sub-divided into the e-learning initiative, the e-mobile, the e-consumer and the e-Consumer; all targeted towards all public/civil servants, teachers, lecturers, teachers, students, corporate executives, corporate organizations, educational institutions, SME’s and other citizens to acquire computers through a convenient and structured payment plan which spans 12 – 24 months,” she said .
Corporate organizations, she said can also guarantee their staff to ensure that monthly deductions are made by the organization from individual staff while the company remits one check –off payment to Omatek.
“Other individuals can work into any Omatek branch, pick up the Omatek Xpress Consumer forms and they will be attached to any of our partner banks for provision of credit facility to fund their purchases,” Seriki said .
She said the e-mobile is designed for executives with the Omatek 10” smartbook which allows them to have easy access to the internet anywhere. The ‘always on’ internet access enhances communication with business partners, offices, suppliers anywhere. It comes with a structured payment plan spread over a period of two years.
According to her “the objectives of Omatek e-Xpress Initiative among others is to ease the acquisition mode of the average Nigerian towards owning their own computers; to enhance the technical competence, effectiveness, and continued professional development of Nigerians; to address the current low level of skills in IT literacy and to allow executives have access to information on the internet, access their email anywhere, anytime while using their Executive Omatek Notebooks.”
