Landlords protest Amosun’s planned demolition of 300 houses in Ota

No fewer than 300 landlords in Aro love Estate in Ota, Ado-Odo local government area of Ogun State , Friday, protested the alleged plan of the  State government   to demolish their houses.

The protesters  armed with placards and various inscriptions such as “our land is not under acquisition’, ‘Don’t render us homeless’ and ‘please don’t treat us like slaves’ among others valued the property marked for demolition at  N2 billion.

Addressing  newsmen during the protest,  spokesman for  the landlord in the community, Mr. Akim Soola disclosed that the land belonged to one Aro family which sold the land to them.

He said that the land which was about 24 acres was sold to the residents by  Aro family,saying that,  despite the fact that they have perfected their lands documentation, officials of the State government still came to the communities and  marked  those houses without disclosing the reason. He said “those people just came from Abeokuta and started marking our houses without asking the residents where the local government boundary is.

”I had to go and meet one of them and asked them as a surveyor. They said they were acting on a  directive.”

They said they were going to going to demolish them withing seven day ultimatum.I have never seen it in this country where you wake up one day and give somebody seven day ultimatum  to leave his house orelse they will demolish the house.
