WARRI—THREE police officers, alleged to have been involved in the kidnap threat and demand for N20 million ransom from a Delta State High Court judge, Justice Flora Azinge, have been dismissed from the force.

A police source disclosed to Vanguard, weekend: “The three police officers were tried and dismissed after they were found guilty of complicity in the kidnap saga.”

The sources added that “one of the policemen, attached to the armourer, who had been on the run since the bubble burst, refused to surface and was tried and dismissed in absentia.”

Judge-kidnap

Vanguard learnt that five persons, including Justice Azinge’s driver and the police officer at large, were arraigned before a magistrate court in Warri, last week, over the kidnap and attempt to poison the judge.

The accused persons were remanded in prisons custody, while the case was adjourned till January 23, 2013.

It was gathered that while in police custody, one of the police officers called the driver of the judge, who was earlier arrested and released by Directorate of State Service, DSS, to poison the judge.

This fact, it was learnt, was uncovered from the call logs of the suspects. It was also discovered that the phone number that was used in the call belonged to suspect, who also stole N13.8 million, belonging to the Delta State Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Frank Omare.
