ABUJA – SPEAKER of the House of Representatives, Hon Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Sunday described as tragic and sorrowful, the helicopter crash which claimed the lives of Kaduna State Governor, Mr. Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa, former National Security Adviser, NSA, Andrew Owoye Azazi and four others.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Mallam Imam Imam, Tambuwal said he feels so sad and heartbroken hearing the news of the ugly incident.
According to him, It is quite unfortunate and disheartening that Nigerians are waking up to the reality of another air disaster which has claimed lives in the country yet again.
“I mourn the loss of the fine gentlemen aboard the Navy helicopter and pray to God to give our nation the fortitude to bear the loss.”
Tambuwal added that in Yakowa, the country has lost one of its best technocrats and administrators.
The Speaker said the House of Representatives, as part of its oversight functions, will liaise with aviation authorities to conduct diligence checks on all military and civilian aircraft flying in the country in order to ascertain their airworthiness and to prevent future mishap in the country.
