The Cross River State Director of Sports, Dr Jude Amadi has said that Team Cross River has been given the required training and motivation to perform well at the forthcoming 18th National Sports Festival in Lagos, Eko 2012.
Speaking to reporters at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Thursday, Dr Amadi said, “we are ready and yearning to go. We have prepared and the government of Senator Liyel Imoke has given us all that is required to succeed.”
He reiterated that the state’s target was to finish among the top ten.
The director said there has been a gradual expansion in the scope of the state’s participation in the festival.
“In Rivers 2011 we took part in 17 sports but now we have entered for 23 out of the 25 available sports at the festival. We are doing this in preparation for 2014, when we will be hosting the games.
We want to garner the necessary experience ahead of 2014 because by the we will be competing in all the sports.”
