Coalition of Nigerian Youth Leaders for Peace has berated the President of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Com. Abdulwaheed Omar, for allegedly calling Sokoto State Governor Aliyu Wamako names over the face-off between the state and the staff of Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN).
The president of the Coalition, Mr Mike Loyibo, while speaking in Abuja, noted that Omar lacked knowledge of the facts of the matter. He asked the NLC boss to apologize to the government and the people of the state.
His words, “We have peace in Sokoto and that is because of the leadership. The crux of the matter is that the PHCN manager collected N17m to supply transformers and did not supply the transformers. The governor called the man and said `tell me why you must not deliver after collecting money?’ He told him to go deliver on the agreement.
”There was no beating, no harassment. So, for the NLC president to call a governor that is elected and accepted by his people all such names is unacceptable.
”We call on the president of the NLC to apologize to the people and government of the state, because government in Sokoto is determined and in a hurry to deliver dividends of democracy to its people”.
