ABEOKUTA — A-400 level Sociology Student of Olabisi Onabanjo University, OOU, Ago-Iwoye, Azeez Salami, 27, was among the 24 suspects paraded by the Ogun State Police Command yesterday for armed robbery, burglary, car theft, murder and obtaining money under false pretence.
Addressing newsmen at Eleweran headqu- arters of the Command, the Commissioner of Police,Ikhemefuna Okoye said the suspects were those arrested in the state within this month alone.
He said that Salami had been on the wanted list of Police in a murder case which, according to him, was still under investigation, before he was arrested with one cut-to-size single barrel gun in his hide-out in Ago Iwoye.
According to the CP, preliminary investigation showed that, Salami was the second-in-command of the ‘Eiye Confraternity’ in the institution.
Reacting, Salami said he was a member of secret cult “Eiye Confraternity, but, denied being an armed robber .
Okoye, however, said that the killers of former Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Alhaji Oluwatoyin Hamsat, were yet to be arrested.
The police boss further stated that, the command has recorded success in crime control in the outgoing month.
