Ogun embargoes filling stations construction

ABEOKUTA—The  Ogun  State government  yesterday  disclosed that it had put an embargo on the construction  of filling stations across  the state in order  to reduce the effects of the  proliferation of  petrol stations and as well avoid  what it described as preventable accidents which had led to the loss of lives in the state.

Addressing  newsmen yesterday  in Abeokuta, the state Commissioner  for  the newly created  Ministry of Physical Planning, Mr. Adebayo Fari,  in his address,  stated that the government took the step to check the excesses of  the oil  dealers.

He said: “The state government has put an embargo on the construction of filling stations in the state. If there is any reason for anyone to build it later, such a person has to convince the government before such approval can  be given.

“ The decision was takento forestall fire disaster, in the state.”
