Levante forward Obafemi Martins has disclosed that he is ready to score for Stephen Keshi in the upcoming international friendly against Venezuela on November 14 in Miami.

Martins who was recently handed a call up by Keshi due to his blistering form at Levante, where he has scored four goals in six league games, told Goal.com that he would not disappoint Coach Keshi and, in particular, his teeming fans.

“I’m happy to be back in the Eagles and I appreciate Keshi  for giving me this opportunity and I promise I won’t let my fans down. I’m really thankful.”

Martins told the website that he had not met Keshi since he took over the mantle as head coach of the Super Eagles but the former Newcastle striker said he respects the gaffer.

“We have always spoken on the phone, he is the Big Boss and I respect him a lot. He has been there for the Eagles as a player and now as a coach, he has seen it all, and I am ready to play under him, and score goals for him.”

Sounding modest but determined to work hard

for a place in the squad, Martins said he recognised the availability of numerous strikers in the Super Eagles. “We are blessed with stars, now we have the mixture of the home based and the professionals, and why not, the Eagles can always fly higher and put smiles on the faces of Nigerians.’

He said he had put behind him his sad experience at Rubin Kazan and was now focused on the task ahead. “The most important thing is that I’m back to full form, and I’m committed to the Super Eagles, my family and Levante.”
