Fashola’s wife condemns healthcare workers’ attitude

LAGOS — Wife of the Lagos State Governor, Dame Abimbola Fashola has identified negative attitude of healthcare providers in public health facilities as major factor fuelling low attendance in many government-owned hospitals.

The wife of the Governor, who spoke while flagging off the second round of this year’s Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Week in Lagos, called for attitudinal change of service providers in the public sector, particularly among the nurses and doctors.

Fashola, who noted the need for a better approach to issues relating to life, stressed the importance of attitudinal change in the health sector in order to save more lives. Continuing, she said: “This is not about nurses alone; it is about all of us.

Our attitude to work, our attitude to one another, and the way we talk and our approach to one another must be redefined. It is only in this part of the world that we employ people and still monitor them to make sure they do the job.”
She explained that the purpose of the week-long programme was to create awareness among the people on the health care services.
