THE drive was excellent, the finishing, perfect and the interior quiet and comfortable. You could hardly fault the all-new Kia Cadenza in any way, be it design, safety or handling, the Cadenza has got it all. It reflects Kia’s rising profile in the auto industry since the beginning of the new millennium.
A successor model to the Kia Opirus, the Cadenza could pass for the most improved car in its class.
Powered by a new Lambda II 3.5 litre petrol engine that churns out 290Ps at 6600 rpm, the Cadenza boasts one of the most powerful engines in its class. Its powerful aluminium engine features dual continuously variable valve timing, a silent timing chain system to minimise noise and variable intake system efficiency.
Other advantages of the new Cadenza engine include, reduced vibration, low noise when idling and accelerating, an eco oil filter that lowers maintenance costs and reduced overall weight to enhance fuel economy. Added to this, is the next generation six-speed automatic transmission which guarantees smooth ride.
Vanguard Motoring test drove the all new Cadenza not long ago and the performance was amazing. The Cadenza is fast, and grips the road like a typical luxury sedan. The quiet interior and finishing gives you a feeling of being in a premium sedan while the braking is superb.
As befitting a luxury sedan, the Cadenza’s accelerator pedal is designed for maximum comfort by allowing your foot and ankle to move in the same trajectory as the pedal itself.
During the test drive the Cadenza felt much at home on the Lekki Epe expressway while the sound system blasted. The engine could make you abuse the approved speed limit in the country with ease. But I maintained my cool knowing I could bump into the FRSC check point on the road.
In summary, the Cadenza is a car with both style and performance to back it up. From nimble steering to precision-controlled handling, everything is geared to fit your driving needs.
Inside the Cadenza Kia engineers have brought their midas touch to bear. The elegant, advanced ergonomics of the Cadenza dashboard merge seemlessly with the latest technology. All of it working in harmony through intuitively operated controls to provide cohesive stimulating and wholly enjoyable driving environment.
Comfort and space were giving priority in the Cadenza as luxury has been raised to the highest level in the new Kia flagship sedan.
Kia took safety to the next level in the new Cadenza. A rigid, high-strength steel structure with re-inforced side sills means energy is effectively absorbed and dispersed in the event of collision. The Brake Assist System deploys in an emergency situation, sensing brake pedal speed and applying increased pressure to ensure a shorter brake distance. Airbags at the front and sides offer protection for both driver and passengers.
