About 6,000 poor households in Cross River State have been empowered by the state government under a social security safety net called Conditional Cash Transfer, CCT, otherwise known as Project Comfort.
The households are beneficiaries of the N5,000 monthly stipend from the government.
A member of each household is also put through a year or 6 months skills acquisition programme and eventually benefits from the Poverty Reduction Investment Component amounting to N7,000 each month for small scale enterprise formation.
At the end of the training, they are empowered with working tools and cash.
