The Kano state police command have arrested 22 suspects in connection with the ethno-religious crisis that swept through Bichi town Thursday.
A statement by the Command signed by the Public Relation officer, ASP Magaji Musa Majia confirmed that two persons lost their lives to the mayhem while two others that sustained life threatning injuries are recuperating in the Hospital.
ASP Musa Majia disclosed that no fewer than 7 churches were set ablaze by the vandals as 8 shops and one residential building were burnt down during the mayhem.
Bichi, a town located along Km 27 Kano- Katsina federal highways erupted into religious crisis Thursday following an alleged mispro-nounciation of Hausa words considered by first speaker of the language as blasphemous. The command said that normalcy has been restored to the troubled town,adding that the command has intensified its patrol to ensure residents go about their businesses without fear of molestation.
The police enjoin Kano citizens to continue to live in harmony with each other irrespective of ethno-religious differences.
The Command further promised to get to the root of the matter and punished anyone found involved to have played a role in the crisis.
