An alleged student of the University of Port Harcourt, a corps member and one other were reportedly shot dead by unknown gunmen at Rumuotakara in Choba area of Rivers state.
Choba is part of the host communities of the University of Port Harcourt. This incident came barely three weeks four students of the university were brutally murdered in Omuokiri-Aluu community.
Saturday Vanguard gathered that some guys in a jeep opened fire on the three among whom was girl, killing them on the spot.
The lady was allegedly a girl friend to one of the deceased. The corps member reportedly graduated from the University of Port Harcourt. And was among corps members that passed out on Thursday from the National Youth Service Scheme, NYSC.
The state Police Public relations officer, DSP Ben Ugwuegbulam confirmed the killing, but quickly added that details were hazy.
He said investigation was on top gear to track those behind it and bring them to book.
Meantime, the public relation unit of the university was not willing to comment on the development. A source who spoke to the Vanguard said the university had been shut down.
