The Mimiko Campaign Organisation (MCO) has called on the security agencies to provide adequate security for the people of Ondo State even as it accused ACN of being the brain behind the spate of violence unleashed on the people.
The call was coming in the wake of another attack in Akungba Akoko on Wednesday evening in which a supporter of Labour Party (LP), Mr Adeniyi Oyen was shot dead when thugs suspected to be ACN members invaded the venue of the campaign rally of the LP.
Several people who were also shot are now receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre in Owo and other undisclosed hospitals in Ikare Akoko. Among those injured include Aregbesola Emmanuel and Akinniyi Ige who was shot in the eyes.
It would be recalled that the MCO had raised the alarm over plans by the opposition party to bring in thugs from other states to eliminate its leaders and supporters following an attack on its members on Tuesday night.
A member of the House of Representatives representing Owo/ Ose FEderal Constituency, Mr Eni Omosule, the Chairman of the State Environmental Task Force, Mr Gbenga Atiba and a Senior Special Assistant to the Ondo State Governor on Direct Labour Agency, Mrs Mobolaji Suara had on Tuesday evening cheated death by whiskers when they were attacked by thugs suspected to be working for the Peoples Democratic party (PDP) thugs and those of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) at Uka area of Owo with guns, axes, cutlasses and clubs.
Speaking on the latest development which it traced to the huge success of the rally addressed by the candidate of the LP in the State and incumbent Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko in Akungba earlier in the day wherein thousands of people turned out to grace the occasion, the MCO warned that the people of the State would not be intimidated by the antics of opposition.y
According to the Director of Publicity and Media Relations of MCO, Mr Kolawole Olabisi, the ACN has continuously proven to the world that it harbours a nest of killers and that it is not a party of democrats contrary to its professed mantra of democracy for justice .
