The people of Ondo state have been enjoined to be vigilant and ensure no room is given to the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) to rig in the October 20th gubernatorial election “especially now that it has been confirmed by a Tribunal that they are master riggers in the party.”

Speaking against the backdrop of Thursday’s verdict of the Local Government Election Tribunal which pronounced Ibrahim Obanikoro of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) winner of the Ikoyi/Obalende Local Council Development Area election following a petition challenging the earlier result which gave victory to the ACN, a group, Forum For Democratic Transparency said, the Tribunal’s verdict is a clear indication that the ACN is using  illegitimate means to win elections.

In a statement issued in Akure on Friday and signed by its Publicity Secretary, Adebari Mayaki, the Forum said “it has become obvious that the ACN does not have the popularity they claimed to have,” adding that the Tribunal judgement has shown clearly that the People of Lagos state voted out the party in the last Local government election .

“It is apparent that the party has been exposed. They are not as popular as they claim to be, the Edo state election was won by the popularity of the incumbent governor, Adams Oshiomole not the platform on which he contested.

“The Local Government Tribunal verdict has exposed the party in no small measure and it is apparent that they are banking on the same strategy of rigging to win the October 20th election in Ondo state that is why they have been claiming they will win the gubernatorial election of a state where they have not even a single Councillor”

Insisting that the people of Ondo state should not underestimate the ACN’s rigging capacity in the coming election, the Forum said the party has demonstrated they have high capacity for rigging when they started buying voters’ card from potential voters.
