PORT HARCOURT – Governor Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers State, has called on the Federal Government and National Assembly to come up with measures that would permanently end the perennial flood and other environmental challenges in the Niger Delta.
Speaking when the Senate Committee on Environment and Ecology paid him a courtesy visit in Government House, Port Harcourt, Amaechi called for the speedy passage of the Petroleum Industry Bill, PIB, noting that it would address the challenges in the region.
He said: “We all know that derivation funds are paid to the states, but all of us must work together and ensure that the problems faced by these communities are addressed. We should do something fast to help our people.”
…swears in new Head of Service
Port Harcourt— Governor Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers State has appointed Mr. Samuel LongJohn as the new Head of Service in the state.
Swearing in the new Head of Service at Government House, Port Harcourt, the governor urged civil servants to partner his administration to promote good governance and accountability.
The governor, who said that part of his resolve was to build an efficient and effective civil service in the state commended the outgone Head of Service, Mrs Ether Anucha.
