UMUAHIA—ABIA State Government has warned that the ban placed on the operations of commercial motorcycles popularly known as Okada in the state was still in force.
The government said the warning was necessary as it had been observed that the use of motorcycle as means of transportation was gradually resurfacing in Aba, the commercial city of the state.
Chief Press Secretary to Governor Theodore Orji, Mr. Ugochukwu Emezue in a statement, weekend, said that the ban on the use of Okada was still in force in Umuahia, Aba and major towns in the state.
Emezue, said those who were involved in the illegal act were warned to desist from it, adding that security agencies had been directed to arrest any offender for prosecution.
He warned that the state government was serious over the issue of security in the state, hence anybody found sabotaging the efforts of government in this regard would not be spared.
