UGHELLI— Delta State Ministry of Environment is to open major water channels in Warri and Effurun by demolishing buildings and structures on the water ways.

The exercise starts Saturday. State Commissioner for Environment, Chief Frank Omare, in a statement, yesterday, warned owners of such structures on the water channels “to remove them before or on Saturday, when the ministry’s operation will start.”

He said: “I advise parents and guardians to caution their children and wards to steer clear of the operations of the ministry or face severe consequences.

“The Environment Ministry will also demolish illegal structures close to the fence of government primary and secondary schools as well as other parts of Warri and Effurun.”
