Sokoto – Following the attack by suicide bombers on the zonal headquarters of the Nigeria Police, Marina in Sokoto metropolis, the office of Police Officers’ Wives Association, near Unguwar Rogo Divisional station and Arkilla Divisional Police station yesterday, Governor Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko has commiserated with victims and casualties of the blasts.
In a statement signed by Commissioner of Information, Nasir Danladi Bako, a copy of which was made available to Vanguard, the governor condoled the families of those that lost their lives and expressed shock and dismay over the attacks and assured the people of the state.
“The State Government, under the leadership of Governor Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, expresses its shock and dismay at these attacks during this month of Ramadan,” the statement said.
He reassured the peace-loving people of the state that all efforts were being made to protect the lives and properties of all residents. “The security operatives are in control of the situation and the state government hereby advises all and sundry to go about their normal businesses.”
It could be recalled that only yesterday and for the first time, two suicide bombers attacked the office of the Assistant Inspector General of Police, which serves as headquarters of Zone 10 of the Nigeria Police and POWA office, close to Unguwar Rogo Divisional police station as well as exchange of gun shots by gunmen and the police at Arkilla Divisional Police Office.
