ILORIN — Two persons suspected to be students of Kwara State Polytechnic, were found dead Thursday afternoon after a violent clash by rival cult groups in Ilorin, the state capital.
One of the students was beheaded.
Their corpses were discovered at the Sango area of Ilorin, after two cult groups allegedly clashed Wednesday night.
Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Fabode Olufemi, confirmed the incident, saying the two cult groups were from Kwara State Polytechnic.
He said the groups had engaged each other in a supremacy battle late Wednesday night, a development that resulted in the death of the two suspected students.
Olufemi, however, noted that the police on getting information about the clash, immeiadely swung into action and brought the situation under control, even as he expressed surprise that the deceased students were discovered in a nearby bush yesterday afternoon, saying investigations into the matter had begun.
The authorities of the polytechnic denied that students of the institution were involved in killing of the two men, pointing out that their corpses were not discovered near the institution as claimed.
