Sports Minister, Bolaji Abdulahi said he has more faith in the ability of Nigerian paralympians to deliver medals at the London 2012 Games.
Mallam Abdulahi who was speaking in Calabar submitted that the level of preparations made by Nigeria for the main Olympics was not enough to stick out his neck to boast of returning home with several medals.
“At the Olympics we will do well. But how well that I can not say, we have to do greater preparation work.
“But I have a lot of hope in our paralympians. I’ve been to their camp and I’m quite impressed with the high level of enthusiasm in the athletes. They are very excited with what we have put on ground for them.
“It is the first time they are being put in a five star hotel. Among them we have world champions, world record holders and we are positive that they will do us proud at London 2012.”
He said that Nigeria needed to shift emphasis from just participating in the Olympics, but rather focus on grassroots development programme that will produce future athletes for the country.
