ABUJA – THE rift between the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur and the National Secretary, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola has claimed a casualty.
Vanguard gathered that as part of moves to save his head and future embarrassment, Bamanga Tukur had no choice than to sack his chief of Staff, Alhaji Habu Fari who also doubled as the Principal Secretary to the National Chairman.
It was also gathered that the move to ease Fari out of the national secretariat was as a result of pressure on the national chairman by stakeholders and leaders of the party who argued that he was never a member of the NWC and as such he cannot arrogate to himself the powers he never had.
It will be recalled that Tukur and Oyinlola had in the last couple of days engaged in power tussle which was capable of tearing the party apart if President Goodluck Jonathan had not intervened and at the centre of this crisis was Habu Fari whose actions were seen as confrontational to the National chairman and other members of the NWC.
His actions rendered the office of the National Secretary redundant because he replied to memos from outside the party without recourse to the National Secretary’s office.
