These are not the best of times for Nigeria’s image abroad but in far away country of Australia and out of the gloom and doom comes a rising shining star.
Daniel Okoduwa a.k.a Scrim as he is more fondly called by his peers and fans in Australia, was honoured with the prestigious award of Entrepreneur of the year in Sydney, Australia.
The event held at The Novotel Hotel Sydney Olympic park was organized by African professionals of Australia and sponsored by National Australian Bank.
Thus Daniel becomes the first Nigerian/African to be honoured with the award for his outstanding achievement and contribution in the development of business, music, film and community development in Australia
While presenting the award to Scrim, Michelle Rowland, a Federal member of parliament representing Greenway in the state of New South Wales described him as a man that changed the face of the community, a blessing to Australia, a rare talent and an outstanding citizen.
Over the years, Daniel has inspired and united the community, gave face to the African community of Australia and has reached out to the wider Australian community with his unique and infectious innovations in the music and movie industry.
The Edo State, Nigerian born Daniel on several occasions has been invited to Australian schools to speak and inspire children with low self esteem.
Meanwhile as Daniel celebrates the new award, he’s also been nominated for a second award at the upcoming Celebrate African Australia event billed to hold in August 2012 at the iconic Opera House in Sydney.
In short speech delivered at the event, the Nigerian High commissioner to Australia, Ambassador Ayo Olukani described Daniel as the pride of Africans in Australia.
