FEDERAL Government, civil society organizations, CSOs, and individuals have been enjoined to form a common position on developmental programmes that will benefit the generality of Nigerans at the forthcoming UN RIO +20 conference in Brazil.
The National Commandant of Nigeria Peace Corps, Dr. Dickson Akoh gave the advice at the conference on ‘Green Economy: Setting and Achieving Sustainable Development Goals’.
Akoh said as Nigeria prepares to join the rest of the world in the forthcoming UN submit in June, there is need for the conutry to present a common that will aid nation development.
The commandant explained that government or CSOs might not alone be able to take a position without having each other inputs on what to be presented before the international conference, as the country’s position.
”It is important for the government, CSOs and individuals to interact and adopt common position for presentation at RIO+20 global conference. Beside, it will provide a strategic platform and suitable machinery for engendering a deeper understanding of the government’s position – paper meant to be presented at the main event”, he said.
