Out-going 2011 Batch B members of National Youths Service Corps, NYSC, who served in Imo State, have been reminded that “self reliance, hard work and free enterprise are determining factors for survival”.
Imo State Governor, Chief Rochas Okorocha, gave the advice Thursday at the passing out ceremony of the Corps members in Owerri.
“I advise you to avoid mischief makers and other misguided elements in the society, who propagate and engage in terrorism, human trafficking, drug peddling and advance fee fraud as means of livelihood”, Okorocha pleaded.
Earlier in her address, the State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Chinwe Ojukwu, forwarded six names out of the 2,250 corpers that distinguished themselves during the service year for state award.
“Some corps members, who ran foul of the rules and regulations of the scheme, were also considered for sundry offences and will be subjected to various forms of disciplinary measures with the NWSC Bye Laws”, Ojukwu said.
Explaining the action, the Imo NYSC boss said: “Some of these measures include withholding of their discharge certificates, few months of extension of service, outright repeat of service and other forms of sanction”.
