OSOGBO—The Osun State Government yesterday said Mr. Olaitan Oyerinde, the slain Principal Private Secretary to the Edo State Governor, will be accorded a state burial.
A statement by the Director, Bureau of Communications and Strategy, Office of the Governor, Mr. Semiu Okanlawon, said the Mr. Rauf Aregbesola-led administration, in recognition of the contributions of Oyerinde to the development and progress of humanity, the state had concluded arrangements to accord him a state burial befitting of a hero.
The state government noted that Oyerinde, a native of Ede in the state, would be remembered for his enormous contributions at delivering the country from the claws of military rule among other struggles at keeping the nation as an indivisible entity.
As part of the state burial, the statement indicated that remains of Oyerinde would be received by top government functionaries at the Owena town boundary of Osun and Ondo states.
The remains will thereafter be moved to the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede, before his burial.
Oyerinde was Principal Private Secretary of Edo State Governor, Mr. Adams Oshiomhole, who was seconded from the Nigeria Labour Congress before he was gruesomely murdered by yet-to-be-identified gunmen in Benin.
