Following recent calls coming from various quarters on the non-existence of Students’ unionism at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), the school’s Dean of Students Affairs (DSA), Prof. Olukayode Armund has disclosed that the school is not yet ready for SUG, due to threats of violence.
Speaking to Quadlife, Prof. Armund attributed what he referred to as “the low level of maturity of students and cultism in the school” for the ban of SUG and its activities.
He noted that the school will not hesitate to bring back the union if cultism is curtailed to its barest minimum and the students improve on their level of maturity.
“We have been observing the students and we are yet to see some level of maturity. Once that maturity manifests, the Senate will be touched to lift the ban.”
