OSOGBO— NATIONAL Communications Commission, NCC, yesterday, apprehended two persons for allegedly selling fully-activated SIM cards to the public illegally in Osogbo, Osun State capital.
At a briefing after reinforcement of telephone registration regulation 2011 exercise, the commission’s Head of Reinforcement Department, Mr Efosa Idehen, said the purpose of the exercise was to ensure that people fully activated their SIM cards from the commission’s designated operators.
According to him, the commission got information in the last two weeks that there were several illegal fully- activated SIM cards in the market, which prompted the exercise.
Idehen said: “If anybody bought a new SIM card, such a person must ensure full registration of the cards with the National Communications Commission and not just from anybody because anybody can use it to commit any crime.”
