LAGOS—CHIEF Executive Officer of Tom Associates, Mr. Abiodun Toki, has urged media professionals to learn attributes of successful leadership to enable them to effectively manage their organisations.
Toki, who spoke at the in-depth leadership/management training programme for media executives in Lagos, listed such attributes to include ability to take decisions, integrity, enthusiasm and imagination;,willingness to work hard, analytical ability for innovativeness and understanding of people.
The training programme which was packaged for media professionals at middle and top level cadres centred on leadership development, business strategy and human capital development.
Toki, who noted that media professionals were green with innovations and entrepreneural ideas, stressed that they lacked the ability to effectively offer business leadership to their organisations.
Reviewing the litany of media organisations that had failed, he stressed that they collapsed because the media professionals lacked the requisite leadership skills to propel them to success.
A trade consultant and facilitator, Mrs. Folashade Mabadeje, who spoke on the necessity for healthy living, advised media professionals to eat healthily, drink plenty of water, exercise regularly, minimise toxins and reduce stress.
Mabadeje argued that media professionals perpetually lived under the stress of meeting of deadlines, noting that coping with deadlines and day-to-day matters was very critical as stress translates to pain.
