LAGOS — As universities in the country resumed for academic activities, Thursday, after the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, called off its 59 days strike, chairperson of ASUU LASU chapter, Dr Jamiyu Oluwatoki, confirmed that lectures in the university have resumed at their duty post.

He said: “Our staff have resumed. When we went on strike, we informed the management of the university, now that we are back, we are about to send a letter to the Vice Chancellor, informing the university management that we are back, so that he can set everything rolling.

“It was the university that asked the students to leave since we were not coming to work, so it is the university’s responsibility to ask them to come back.”

A Philosophy student of the institution, Ope Samson, said: “Some departments like the Management Science have commenced lectures. About 10 per cent of students have resumed, but the university has not officially addressed students on the issue. I believe by next week things would have returned to normalcy. The time table for most of the departments are already out.”

Another student, Olafewa Mayowa, of marketing department, said: “We were told that lectures will fully commence on Monday. We also heard that we have just one month to our examination.”
