NIGERIAN youths under the aegis of Pan African Youth Council, PAYC, yesterday expressed hope that the removal of fuel subsidy would enhance human development in the country.
Calling on the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC to suspend its five-day old strike action, the group told the leadership of NLC to consider their future and the nation’s economy and go into serious dialogue with a view to finding a lasting solution to the impasse resulting from the removal of fuel subsidy.
Speaking to newsmen, President of the council, Obinna Nwoke, however urged the Federal Government to step up its public campaign on the gains of fuel subsidy removal, appealing to government to also “do more consultations with stakeholders including the National Assembly with a view to putting things in proper perspective as they affect the subsidy removal.”
Reiterating that the council was in support of the policy, he said the policy would also engender job creation for the youths. He added; “the removal of subsidy from PMS will make the business of building refineries attractive to investors which will lead to massive creation of jobs for Nigerian youths.
