Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei, has commended the Federal Government and organised labour for the mature manner they resolved the fuel subsidy impasse that nearly threw the Nation into confusion.
Ochei made the commendation when members of the Delta State Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and Trade Union Congress, TUC, called on him to intimate him of the suspension of the strike.
He observed that the suspension of the strike checked the dubious intentions of some miscreants and interest groups, who could have hijacked the strike. He lauded organised labour for its concern for the welfare of the people.
He said the Delta State Government had already put palliatives in place to cushion the effect of the fuel price increase and assured workers of government’s good intention towards their welfare.
Delta State Chairman of TUC, Mr. Samuel Dietake, and the First Vice Chairman of NLC, Mr. Christopher Iyeke, said the Speaker has shown a great sense of responsibility and understanding with organised labor and urged him not to relent in sustaining the harmonious relationship that exist between labour and the legislature in the state.
