BENIN CITY— NATIONAL Union of Electricity Employees, NUEE, has accused the Power Ministry and management of Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN, of clandestinely employing cronies as staff of PHCN, while over 10 casual workers of the company, who have been in PHCN for over 10 years, have not been engaged.
NUEE in a resolution at the end of its fourth Quadrennial/ninth National Delegates conference in Benin, Edo State, expressed shocked that the Ministry, which had claimed that PHCN was over staffed could connive with PHCN management to get the litany of their social/personal aides into PHCN through the back door.
According to Mr. Mansur Musa and Joe Ajaero, President and General Secretary of NUEE, “The conference in-session regrets the inability of PHCN corporate management to honour and implement agreements entered into with labour unions in the sector.
