Show your 2011 score card, Osaile tasks sports administrators
BY SOLOMON NWOKE
SPORTS analyst and renowned former boxing promoter, Martin Osaile is disgusted that the country’s sports went comatose in 2011 and has wondered what those incharge of the sports in the country were doing.
Osaile, popularly known as ‘African Don King’ said there was nothing to cheer about in sports in the outgoing year as all the football teams were kicked out of international competitions.
He called on sports administrators to render their score card in the year.
“Let us give an account of our stewardship in sports, let us tell ourselvs what we have done, what we have achieved in

NFF boss, Aminu Maigari
terms of sports development”, he said
Osaile said, “is the administration of sports in Nigeria no more under the office of our Vice President?. The best National Sports Festival ever staged in this country was KADA2010 which was personally organised by Architect Namadi Sambo.
The best sports equipment we have in West Africa are owned by Kaduna State and placed there by the Vee-Pee. Why does he seem not to have interest in our sports. He has been silent for too long and our sports rating is nose diving.”
The veteran sports promoter asserted that the problems of Nigerian football were beyond the coaches or the players, adding that there are problems underlying in the administrative structure.
He said, “Super Eagles crashed, Flying Eagles wings clipped, Under-23 (Olympic team) disgraced, Under/Over-17 murdered, Falcons nailed. Is there no one to tell this nation what is really going on with our sports? It is right time the National Assembly and Senate Committee on sports render account of their stewardship. What have they done?”
