Hugh Masekela, Tiwa Savage, others bring Jazz to centre stage
LAST weekend, Lagosians were serenade by Jazz Music from renowned classical acts across the globe including South Africa’s Hugh Masekela, Uganda/Rwanda’s Somi, Germany’s Vladyslav Sendecki, Ghana’s Efya and a host of Nigerian Soul/Jazz artistes such as Tiwa Savage, Omawumi, Keziah Jones, Bez, Cobhams Asuquo, Sesu, Dipo and Diana Bada.
The Lagos Jazz Series was held across four primary outdoor stages showing jazz’s ability to bring people together. Venues were the Four Points Sheraton Terrace, the serene poolside of Sofitel (Moorhouse) Hotel, the Lagos Motor Boat Club and the Muri Okunola Park.
“This year, LJS promised a Jazz outing that has never been experienced in Nigeria. “We brought together a repetoire of acts that give note-worthy performances and showcase Jazz music like it’s never been seen or heard.” says Oti Bazunu, spokesperson for LJS.
Organizers of the event say that LJS now gives people an opportunity to enjoy the same taste of music and lifestyle here in Lagos. The Lagos Jazz Series was supported by Promasidor, CBO Capital Partners, Delta Airlines, Four Points Sheraton, Mercedes Benz, Porsche, Grey Goose, the Guardian and Classic/Beat FM.
