ABAKALIKI – COMMUNITY members of Ishiagu in Ivo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, yesterday, appealed to Governor Martin Elechi to intervene in the ongoing chieftaincy tussle brewing in the area.
They alleged that the squabble was a result of plots by some stakeholders to crown another traditional ruler against the wishes of the people and elders of the area.
The community, which consists of 20 villages, expressed bitterness and apprehension over the scheme by some stakeholders in the area, warning that any attempt in that direction would lead to crisis.
Reacting to the alleged plot, the King of Ishiagu community, Chief Moses Ngele stated that he would not be deterred by the development, adding that it was wrong for people to initiate illegal and unjustifiable propositions that would engender disunity and violence in the community.
However, Chairman, Elders’ Forum of Ishiagu Autonomous Community, Elder Ubani Okoro, said the community had already crowned a new traditional ruler to take over from the late Agu II of Ishiagu community.
He appealed to Governor Elechi call those stakeholders who are trying to foment trouble in the area to order as any attempt made to install another traditional ruler in Ishiagu would lead to serious crisis.
