CALABAR – SENATE Leader, Chief Victor Ndoma-Egba, has described the recent bombing on Christmas day in Madala, Niger State, as an act of aggression against the government and the people of Nigeria by the Muslim group, Boko Haram.
Ndoma-Egba, who was reacting to the bombing through his Media Adviser, Chief Sam Arikpo, advised the Federal Government to go beyond sermon to concrete actions, so as to re-assure Nigerians that the sectarian challenges were being contained.
According to the Senate Leader, the bomb attacks were capable of sending wrong signals because they were targeted at Christian churches, which were an evidence of religious intolerance.
He said: “It was irrational for anybody or groups of persons under any guise to bomb innocent Nigerians in their place of worships on a most significant day in the Christian calendar, which is Christmas day.
“Such dastardly act threatens the fabric of national unity and Nigerians must resist the temptation by the enemies of the state to plunge the country into a sectarian crisis as no country has ever benefited from such.” He called on Christians to “resist the temptation reprisal attacks even though they were grievous and painful.”
