Igbo Youths Movement, IYM, yesterday lamented what it described as attempts by Boko Haram Islamic to cause disintegration in the country with the “Christmas (day) massacre’’ of Christians, saying the incident has put  question to the survival of Nigeria as a country.

In a statement by  President of IYM, Evangelist Elliot Ukoh, and made available to Vanguard, IYM said “the strategically, well-rehearsed reaction-cum-indictment from certain quarters, blaming leadership failure only heightens the fear for the continued survival of Nigeria.

“The desperation for power and unworkable unitary structure makes it impossible for any leadership to succeed”.

“Christmas Massacre and Nigeria’s unity,” read, “The bold and emphatic statement made by the bloody Boko Haram sect to wit that religious and traditional leadership in the North has collapsed, is a very poignant message.

“Boko Haram has finally succeeded in convincing the whole world that the North which prides itself in its ability to reign in all facets of its society and exact control is finally in total disarray.

“Boko Haram has proven without doubt, that the revered traditional institutions, religious leadership and political elite have lost control of northern Nigeria. It is pathetic!

“The reasons for the collapse of authority in the north is quite obvious: the struggle for the total disintegration of Nigeria by Boko haram is succeeding.

’’Tempers are high in the south and among the Christian community in the north. There are talks of reprisals and counter attacks thereby confirming the predictions by foreign powers in 2000 that Nigeria could disintegrate on or before 2015.

’’We all abused them then and told them to mind their business; we were too impatient to appreciate that they have superior intelligence about the mindset of certain Nigerians and they knew that the desire to enthrone Sharia Law was only being delayed by the running oil-wells of southern Nigeria.

‘’Now that the battle is on to destroy Nigeria’s unity, IYM suggests that we humbly apologize to those who warned us 11years ago.

’’ As Nigeria totters at the edge of the precipice, the IYM pleads with the Igbo community of Madala, Niger State to keep calm. We are with you in your sorrow and anguish, but please do not take the law into your hands.

‘’IYM reminds the Presidency that the agenda to paint the government as a failure in the area of security of lives and property is succeeding. The whole world is appalled. Will Nigeria survive as an entity? Will the present victims and future victims of Boko haram’s cold blooded massacre fold their hands and do nothing, accepting government’s platitudes?

’’If aggrieved groups fight back and Nigeria boils, will the country survive it? Will the year 2000 predictions about Nigeria’s disintegration on or before 2015 come true? Questions, Questions in search of Answers.’’
