BENIN CITY- NATIONAL Secretary of the Accord Party, Dr. Samson Isibor, has appealed against his conviction by a Benin Chief Magistrate’s Court, Edo State.
He was sentenced to nine months imprisonment by the court in two separate cases of assault, conspiracy and stealing.
Isibor’s counsel, Mr. S. Atalor, is contending in the appeal, that the “judgment of the Magistrate is all together unwarranted, unreasonable and cannot be supported, having regard to the quantity and quality of evidence adduced by the prosecution.”
Isibor in a statement, weekend, said that he appealed against the judgment of the court, “because the voice is that of Jacob while the hand is that of Esau.”
He said: “I strongly believe that Edo State Governor had a hand in the whole episode. He provided state counsel to the so-called complainant. I also believe that he intimidated the Magistrate to deliver such judgment.”
